Elevators are devices that are used to carry goods and supplies between floors. The earliest notation of an elevator dates back to 200 BC and is accredited to a Roman architect named Vitruvius. Elevators would continue to be used for thousands of years by people to move goods between floors.
Passenger elevator as the name suggests is meant only to carry people between floors. These elevators is normally so heavy in the range of 500-3000 kilos. These are of 2 types - electric and hydraulic which can move up to eight floors. These are capable of reaching speeds of about 200-500ft/min. In building which are higher than ten floors gearless elevators are used which can also travel at similar speeds and those which are installed for more than ten floors can travel at speeds unto 2000 ft/min. These passenger elevators are used in small buildings like in a home or also in huge buildings. These residential elevators are slow and their carrying capacity is less but the passenger elevators installed in big buildings have higher carrying capacity and are fast between floors.
The first building to install a passenger lift was Harrods, and since then, their use has grown phenomenally to the point where it would be odd, and now illegal, for a shopping centre or large store to not contain an elevator if passengers are expected to traverse between floors. Passenger lifts used to be able to carry one or two people, and also used to be manned by an assistant who would help people traverse between the floors. The progression of technology means that these days a series of buttons on a control panel are now how we guide our way between the floors of buildings.
However in some literary sources of later historical periods, elevators were mentioned as cabs on a hemp rope and powered by hand or by animals. It is supposed that elevators of this type were installed in the Sinai monastery of Egypt. In the 17th century the prototypes of elevators were located in the palace buildings of England and France. The goods lifts are used to ferry goods and products from one place to the other. The lift whether it is passenger or the commercial is made up of steel and iron to give the strong protection. If you want to know more information, click: www.sumelevator.com
